2024: THE VIEW – Celebrating and looking ahead
We are excited as our journey into 2024 continues. As new opportunities arise, monitoring the changing political and economic landscape is essential, especially after the recent elections.
ÂPost-election, South Africa operates in a complex landscape, with new leadership and policies impacting many sectors. The economy is stabilizing, which could boost investor confidence. The constantly changing international socio-political environment significantly impacts the luxury housing market.
Several events and trends shape the global design landscape and culture at this time: AI and generative design are transforming design processes; sustainable design remains a priority as the impacts of climate change become more evident; there is an increasing focus on immersive, accessible and inclusive design.
ÂOur team remains committed to exploring the boundaries of design, experimenting with new plans in residential, recreational, and commercial architecture. Our commitment to authentic, experimental, and functional design remains steadfast.
Nico van der Meulen Architects and M Square Lifestyle Design portfolio continues to diversify internationally, with the family residences of Twin Palms and Kasambabezi in Zambia making progress, House Niko expanding, along with the conceptualisation of the luxury lifestyle brand Lavara’s showroom in Florida and an additional residential design in Kiambu, Nairobi. Beyond our residential and luxury leisure enquiries, we explored Afro-Futurist cruise ships concepts and collaboration opportunities in three new cities in Kenya.
ÂLocally, we are proud to highlight recent 3D projects completed, including Lino Residence in Steyn City, The Neighbourhood Residence, Yugen Residence in Bloemfontein, and Casa de Roli in Pretoria.
