Waterfall Equestrian Residence
Waterfall Equestrian Residence
Situated in Waterfall Equestrian Estate, this project involves the careful alteration and extension of an existing, outdated residence. The client’s brief called for a modern and fresh design, prompting a complete architectural rethink that moves away from the original structure’s conventional layout and appearance.
The design adopts a contemporary barn style, using simple, bold forms and a restrained material palette dominated by steel and glass. These elements are used not only for their aesthetic clarity, but also to create open, light-filled spaces that connect more directly with the surrounding landscape.
Large, glazed areas introduce natural light into the interior, while exposed steel elements express the structural logic of the building in an honest, unembellished way. The reinterpretation of barn architecture in this context does not mimic tradition but rather explores its spatial qualities in a more experimental and contemporary manner, offering a thoughtful response to both client intent and site.
