Pod 3 

Set high on a natural hillside, Pod 3 is conceived as a freestanding retreat immersed within its landscape, taking advantage of expansive 360-degree views of the picturesque scenery that surrounds it. The design responds to its setting by allowing the architecture to become part of the landscape, with the individual accommodation pods carefully integrated into the natural terrain and connected through a series of outdoor spaces and pathways.

Rather than treating the accommodation as a single building, the design separates the living, sleeping and bathing areas into individual volumes. This fragmented arrangement creates a more immersive experience, allowing each space to engage directly with the surrounding landscape while providing a sense of privacy and retreat. The individual blocks are unified through a consistent material palette of timber cladding, giving the development a warm, natural character that complements the surrounding vegetation.

Extensive glazing is used throughout to blur the threshold between inside and outside, framing the surrounding views and allowing the landscape to become an integral part of the interior experience. Outdoor terraces and landscaped spaces extend the living areas beyond the enclosed volumes, reinforcing the connection to the site and creating opportunities to experience the natural environment from different parts of the pod.

Designed as a luxurious retreat within a broader landscape of hiking trails and natural scenery, Pod 3 offers an architecture that is deliberately understated. The result is a collection of intimate spaces that balance luxury and comfort with a strong connection to the land, allowing the surrounding landscape to remain the defining element of the experience.
