hoedspruit residence
This exciting new Hoedspruit Residence in the Central Lowveld of South Africa was designed as contemporary bush pavilion, which draws inspiration from its beautiful natural setting. The house is nestled on the banks of a seasonal river with views towards the Blyde River Canyon.
In combination with contemporary light steel and glass elements, natural materials, such as timber and stone, were utilised throughout the design. The language of the light airy roof, which hovers elegantly over the main living spaces allowing northern light to filter through, became quite important in the composition of the house.
A contemporary slatted steel screen was utilised to not only indicate the first habitable threshold around the building, but also to add a permeable screening layer to the northern and western facades. The landscaping around the house will be kept completely natural.
