To all our Valued Clients. It always gives me great pleasure to end the year with a few thankful words.
It has been a busy year with new amazing projects that forged ahead at a steady pace and this trust in our companies, gives us inspiration to produce more beautiful and challenging designs than ever before.
The completion of Sandton Residence and subsequent inclusion in the South African Home Owner magazine evoked ideas of outdoor summer entertaining specifically the pool/lanai combination.
For those who’ve not heard the word or done a brief with my team, a ‘lanai’ is a patio/ verandah/ porch/ stoep with a solid floor and covered by a roof.
We believe it’s an extension of the kitchen, dining and family room with the pool/braai and bar area close by ultimate entertaining.
Features can include a lounge type seating area, pizza oven, wine fridges / icemakers, pool dressing rooms and fire pit (boma).
Swimming pools in a mild climate, such as South Africa, are basically essential and the article “Outdoor Summer Entertaining” shares design ideas for rim flow, pool covers and finishes.
Residence Mot in Secunda and Moc Residence in Pretoria are also approaching approval and are midway in the interior design process with M Square and collaboration for a ‘total design’ philosophy.
Further to the projects mentioned in the previous newsletter and In the internal design approval phase we have Dar residence, Residence Malu in Waterfall and Outcrop Residence in Steyn City.
In our next newsletter we’ll also share new projects with existing clients, friends of clients, additions /alterations to one or two of our previous projects and a proposal for a multi-residential in Lubumbashi.
As the new year approaches very quickly, I have hope for another bumper year ahead, and I would like to end by saying a special thanks to all our clients for their incredible support of Nico van der Meulen Architects, M Square Lifestyle Designs and M Square Lifestyle Necessities.
Wishing you all a joyful and peaceful holiday season.
