This is some of the last unbuilt stands in Dainfern: The owner bought the double stand on the river years ago but never got so far as to start building.
When they finally decided to explore a design, they contacted Nico van der Meulen Architects.
After many iterations the final design is a pared down, minimalist design of 1150sq.m., with the south facing street elevation consisting of a few overlapping off-shutter concrete walls and some dark grey steel-clad walls. Designed to be built from off-shutter concrete, steel and glass the house follows the contours of the stand down to the river.
The north façade is totally glass except for some vertical steel-clad fins in the same dark grey as the south elevation floating over the ground floor.
The basement houses the garages and a shooting range, while the lower ground floor consists of a family room, lanai, kitchen / dining, two studios and a courtyard entertainment area. The kitchen / dining room and family room flows seamlessly onto the lanai and courtyard through massive sliding doors.
The upper ground storey of two guest suites and the main suite along with a library.
