NEW FEE STRUCTURE FOR INTERNATIONAL CLIENTS
Due to the increase in demand from International clients appointing us for architectural designs, we have found it necessary to revise and reduce our fee structure to accommodate a variance in the way we currently works in our local market.
One of the most important areas of concern are the preparation of plans to the local market’s specifications and council requirements with which we are not familiar, as they need to comply fully in order to have a successful application/approval.
These projects come from various countries, all with their own specifications and language barriers, which would necessitate all the notes on plans being translated to the local language. In addition, there are the structural/building elements – these being the sizes and types of bricks, steel, etc. that are probably quite different to the standards we work with in South Africa.
After careful consideration we feel it would be in the best interest of all parties to re-structure our current “full house” fee proposal, to instead offer you a full design and model only, based on our South African building standards.
On approval of the design, it can then be passed on to a ‘local’ architect of choice to act as the “Architect of record” who may need to tweak the design or alter wall thicknesses, etc. to suit the local structural elements, and then to complete the plans to full working drawings for submission to council, tender and construction, with all the required notes and specifications.
Our fee will now be made up for the design and Revit model, and the fees that would have been paid to us for the completion of full working drawings to full council submission, shall then be paid to your locally appointed architect to complete the process.
We would appreciate all drawings being sent to us as during the time that design amendments are made, to ensure that the overall design integrity and aesthetic values are respected.
Most African countries have similar building technology to Southern Africa, and will therefore continue to use the fee structure as set out in the document “ LOA Dollar”, and the setting out of “Additions and alterations” and New Houses” will remain as is.
All other Internationally based clients will receive a new and reduced fee structure referred to as “LOA International”.
Commercial and Industrial building proposals and fees with be discussed on a personal basis as they carry their own merits.
